A Switch to Float Tubes

A switch to float tubes from our traditional kayak fishing has proved to be most beneficial. Always in the kayaks we had to paddle, throw our fly rods a few times and then pick back up the paddle to straighten the kayak out again. On windy days it was quite brutal.

No more of that! We may move around slowly in the float tubes but most fly fisherman ain't in too much of a hurry anyways, lol. What it does do is give us back our hands for fishing. Use of the flippers on the feet allow us to move around and position ourselves without the need for a paddle. This allows us to increase the amount of fly casting by 50% over what we were able to do in the kayaks.

Takes a little getting use to especially when you see snakes or turtles nearby but even that you get use to after a short while. Not for sure just yet how we will feel when we experience our first gator!

  1. Nothing better than breathing in fresh air in the woods, on the water, on just in your own back yard.

We enjoyed visiting your neck of the woods!
